About Us

Welcome to the Free State Regional Training Centre (RTC) Electronic Library. This electronic library is managed, maintained and updated by the RTC and the portal is also freely available to members of the public and other stakeholders with an internet service. The RTC was started in 2004 and is a sub-directorate of the provincial Human Resources Development (HRD) cluster. However, in 2010 the International Training and Education Centre for Health (I-TECH), conceptualized and developed the Electronic Library for the health care professionals in the Free State and thus the expansion of the RTC’s responsibilities and obligations. Types of training(s) done by the RTC personnel include the following topics: 
  • Implementation Training
  • Drug Readiness Training
  • Maintenance Training 
  • Information Sessions
Viewers from all across the province and the country can share and contribute resources, articles, publications, etc. to the website. It is a “one-stop shop” for resources, toolkits, publications, trainings, discussions and news items on HIV/AIDS in the Free State. The E-Library sets to achieve the following objectives as guided by its vision and mission.

 

OBJECTIVES
  • Provide relevant accredited training to all health professionals, partners and relevant stakeholders.
  • Establish partnerships with higher education institutions.
  • Capacity building of NGO’s, CBO’s, FBO’s, NPO’s and Traditional Healers.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of training.
  • Develop a resource centre where professional health care workers and the community can access training material and other information for training and for research purposes, focusing on HIV and AIDS and the integrated management of HIV and AIDS.

VISION
Appropriately skilled health care professionals and communities which are able to render quality comprehensive HIV/AIDS services.

MISSION

  • Ensure that comprehensive HIV/AIDS training is demand driven i.e. based on needs and aligned to strategic priorities. 
  • Ensure that Health Care professionals and communities are developed through partnership with relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop harmonized and standardized policies on comprehensive HIV/AIDS training.
